Who do the Bridgerton siblings marry in the books?
When Bridgerton debuted on Netflix in 2020, it broke the streamer’s record for most-watched series with an average of over 80 million viewers. Netflix was impressed with the show’s ratings and renewed the popular series for three more seasons.
Season 2 of Bridgerton completed in 2022 and fans are ready for the third installment. In the meantime, let’s look at who the Bridgerton siblings marry in the books.
The Netflix show has so far been perfect with the Bridgerton spouses
The Julia Quinn novels detail the lives and romances of the Bridgerton siblings beginning with Daphne Bridgerton. The first book of Bridgerton’s novels, The Duke and I follows Daphne’s fake romance with Simon as they develop real feelings for each other. Although Simon does not want children, he reconsiders his decision and he and Daphne welcome a baby boy.
In the second book, The viscount who loved me, Anthony sets his sights on the season’s diamond, Edwina Sheffield, whose last name was changed to Sharma in the Netflix series. Anthony tries to win Edwina’s sister Kate’s blessing for the marriage, but falls in love with her instead. He and Kate are getting married.
An offer from a gentleman is the third installment of Bridgerton’s novels with Benedict as the main character. The novel takes on a Cinderella-like format as he meets a mysterious woman at a ball. Before he can get her name, she leaves at midnight leaving behind a single glove.
Benedict tracks her down relentlessly and meets a young maid named Sophie. He employs Sophie at the Bridgerton mansion before realizing that Sophie is his mysterious prom wife. The two get married and live happily ever after.
In Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, Colin and Penelope’s friendship evolves into something more when the company becomes captivated by Lady Whistledowns’ identity. Colin learns that Penelope is the gossip columnist of the ton, and after struggling with the information for a while, he accepts her and they become husband and wife. Their romance will be at the center of Bridgerton’s third season.
The Netflix show changed Eloise’s love story
In the second season of Bridgerton, Eloise made her debut in the company but could not follow in her sister’s footsteps by becoming the Diamond of the season. In her quest to unmask Lady Whistledown’s identity, she encounters a low-society young man named Theo.
At first, the two clash, but they love each other, and for a moment, Eloise and Theo seem backed to be the next big thing. In Quinn’s fourth Bridgerton novel, To Sir Phillip with love, Eloise never meets Theo. Theo has never been in the books.
She offers Sir Philip Crane her condolences over the death of her distant cousin Marina Thompson (who was the Featheringtons’ distant cousin in the series). The two begin to write to each other and develop feelings. Sir Phillip invites Eloise to his home and they are forced to marry after being found in a compromising situation. Eloise then becomes Sir Phillip’s wife and the mother of Marina’s children.
Could a gender change be happening with any of the Bridgerton siblings’ romances?
In the sixth novel, when he was mean, Francesca experiences grief when her husband dies two years after the wedding. She turns to her husband’s cousin for help, and the two end up getting married. Bridgerton recently announced that Hannah Dodd will reprise the role of Ruby Stokes.
Some fans believe this gives the show a good chance to rewrite Francesca’s story to add LGBTQ romance to the show. Hyacinth falls in love with It’s in his kiss with Lady Danbury’s grandson, Gareth St. Clair.
Gregory, who has his eyes set on a young woman named Hermione Watson, unexpectedly falls in love with her best friend, Lady Lucinda Abernathy, in On the way to the wedding.
