The new Vice Chancellor of Enugu State Science and Technology University (ESUT), Alloysius Okolie, has commissioned lecturers to write well-researched books aimed at providing solutions to the ills of society.

Mr. Okolie entrusted the task during the presentation and unveiling of two books “Nigeria and International Humanitarian Law” and “Modern Nigeria Family Law” on Tuesday in Enugu.

Agu Gab Agu is the author of “Nigeria and International Humanitarian Law”. The ‘Modern Nigeria Family Law’ was co-authored by Mr. Agu and Adakole Odike.

The Vice-Chancellor said his administration will foster academic and intellectual excellence, while ensuring that the institution’s scholars and students stand out in all intellectual endeavors through the university’s deliberate support.

“I must commend the authors for giving us two modern books on the aspect of international humanitarian law and family law that seek to broaden the academic and intellectual horizon of learning in these directions,” he said. he declares. “The ESUT under my leadership will foster intellectual excellence. Reviewing “Nigeria and International Humanitarian Law”, Cyprian Ajah of the Enugu State High Court noted that the 281-page book clearly explained why international humanitarian law was applicable even in situations of war, because “even wars have acceptable international rules of engagement and obey certain levels”. of humanity “.

“So I recommend it to everyone to read it, especially as the world is turning into a global village with issues happening in very distant lands that have some impact on us,” Mr Ajah said. .

Reviewing “Modern Nigeria Family Law,” Carol Arinze-Umobi explained that the book offers contemporary solutions to family issues.

Ms. Arinze-Umobi, former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said the book clearly spelled out the rights of women in marriage and how marriage would be a union of two like minds.
