U.S. Embassy to showcase over 7,000 books at Doha International Book Fair

As the 2021 Qatar-U.S. Year of Culture concludes, and as Qatar and the United States celebrate 50 years of bilateral relations, the U.S. Embassy is participating as a guest of honor at the 31st Doha International Book Fair, which will be held from January 13 to 22.
Installed front and center of the entrance to Hall 3 of the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, the US stand joins the Ministry of Culture in promoting this year’s theme, “Knowledge is Light”. .
Designed by renowned Arab-American designer Christina Khater, the futuristic design of the US stand shows how literacy and learning are key tools for innovation and enabling humanity to reach its highest potential.
A celebration of American literature and culture, the American stand offers a record inventory of more than 7,000 books to buy at reduced prices. Several American publishers are also represented in other booths at the event. Book categories by renowned American authors include everything from children’s books to bestsellers.
Commenting on the excitement of the Fair’s return this year, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker said, “As we join the people of Qatar over the week and half ahead to celebrate literacy and learning, our goal at the 31st Doha International Book Fair is to encourage literacy, professional development and academic exchange between our two nations.
In addition to the thousands of books for sale at the U.S. booth, the U.S. Embassy plans to host daily activities including film screenings, EducationUSA tips, and consular briefings. The band from the USA Air Forces (AFCENT) will play a range of music on January 16 at 8:10 p.m.
