The new book club brings together wines, books

SUISUN VALLEY — A few people had never been to a book club before Saturday but wanted to try, so they joined a few regulars at the Love is for Everyone Diverse Book Club.

Laura King, from Fairfield, had never been to a book club before, but she was interested to see what it was like because she loves to read.

“Between the kids and the job, it never came together,” King said.

This month’s book was “The Love Principle” by Helen Hoang, a book King couldn’t get in time for the day’s review.

“I think I’ll catch it next time,” she said.

Lana Detomaso, adult duty librarian at the Fairfield Cordelia Library, came with bags full of papers and information about the Solano County Library’s new venture for adults – a book club with wine.

“We wanted to get people out of the library and into the community,” she said.

This was the third time the book club had met at Village 360, the new place to discuss adult contemporary books.

About six people came for the event on Saturday. They could have a glass of wine downstairs and then retreat to the event area above the bar.

July’s book will be “Felix Ever After” by Karen Callender. They will discuss Uzma Jalaluddin’s “Ayesha at Last” in August and Tia Williams’ “Seven Days in June” in September.

“It’s going to last all year,” Detomaso said.

Love is for Everyone Diverse Book Club meets the last Saturday of the month at Village 360, 4949 Suisun Valley Road, Rural Fairfield, upstairs above the bar. There is an elevator available.
