SunLive – Thousands of books on sale at the fair!

Book lovers, listen up! The Tauranga Harbor City Lions Club is set to hold its biggest ever book sale from November 4-6 at Tauranga Racecourse in Greerton.

Thousands of books – from every topic of fiction to every category of non-fiction you can think of – have been sorted by volunteers ready for sale.

“We’ve received the most books ever – so this will be our best selling ever,” said Christine Currie, head of book sales. “We have at least 1,200 banana crates full of books.”

The Harbor City Lions Club received thousands of high quality books, many of which are brand new, and there was an exceptional donation of a collection of photographic art books. “They are absolutely gorgeous – they are of a quality you wouldn’t expect to see at a book sale.”

The sale – located in the main racetrack building – will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday November 4 and Saturday November 5. On Sunday, November 6, the sale is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As people wander through the main building of the racetrack, they will find a large room to the left containing all the non-fiction books. These are categorized into dozens of categories, such as recipes, gardening, and more.

Fiction books – listed alphabetically – will be in a large room across the hall.

“The club would like to thank the stores who were the collection points for the sale, the public for their incredible contributions and the volunteers who worked for months to sort the books and prepare for the big event,” says Christine.

Funds raised from the annual book sale, which began in 2007, are donated by Lions to community groups and projects.

“Every dollar goes back to the community, so to make this sale a success and raise as much money as possible, we’re inviting everyone to come November 4-6.”

There will be a good deal for everyone. There are plenty of free parking spaces and Eftpos available, so please carry on.
