In honor of the Ignatian Year, the Heritage Hall hosts an exhibit titled “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam: Rare Books from the Jesuit Hill-Davis Collection” during the spring semester. The exhibition will mainly feature books written by Jesuits from the founding of the order in 1540 until its suppression in 1773. The exhibition will be divided into categories reflecting the scope of the intellectual and pastoral activities of the Jesuits. There will be sections on Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuits as a moral person, science and technology, humanities, missionary work, the counter-reformation and the suppression of the order, among others.

On March 22, we are tentatively planning an exhibition reception with a lecture by the Reverend Antoni Ucerler, SJ, director of the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History at Boston College. Fr. Ucerler will speak about the Jesuits’ use of printing technology to advance missionary activities in Japan. The conference will be co-sponsored by the Weinberg Friends Library, the Jesuit Center, the Slatterly Center for Ignatian Humanities and the Schemel Forum.
