Kudos to State, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for making the books available

To the West Virginia Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) for her partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that provides free books through the mail to encourage early childhood literacy. Each year, a panel of early childhood literacy experts reviews which books to include in the monthly mailing. The program sends free books to enrolled children from birth to age 5, regardless of family income. The review board focuses on specific themes and concepts including inspiration, imagination, love of reading and learning, respect for diversity, culture, promotion of self-esteem and confidence, as well as an appreciation for art and aesthetics. Book selections vary by age. Signing up for the Imagination Library is done online or at a WIC clinic. Once the child is registered, the Imagination library will send him by post a book adapted to his age.
