NUIG students MA in Literature and Publishing pulled out all the stops this year to celebrate the 30th edition of the annual publication of Literary review ROPES. Along with various works by established authors and artists such as Jessica Traynor and Leanne McDonagh, there is also new writing by Claire Hennessy and Nuala O’Connor and an interview with the dynamic editors of Tramp Press.

An early summer highlight for all Shannonside readers and book lovers is the University of Limerick Creative Writing Festival. Curated and directed by novelist and University of Limerick professor Joseph O’Connor, it returns May 20-22 and promises a top-class selection of award-winning writers – including Roddy Doyle, Kevin Barry, Danielle McLaughlin, Donal Ryan , Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, Kit de Waal and Sebastian Barry, with poets Seán Hewitt, Jane Clarke, Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi and many others.
