He continues to write his popular weekly newsletter for The Times and produce occasional essays as one of its opinion contributors.

Bruni graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in English and earned a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

In a star-studded review, Publisher’s Weekly says of Bruni’s book The Beauty of Dusk: “A compassionate approach to aging [that] illustrates Bruni’s talent for writing about the unpredictable beauty of the human condition. Skillfully combining memoirs and cultural criticism, it speaks with emotion to an entire generation.

In “The Beauty of Twilight,” Bruni hauntingly recounts his adjustment to the daunting reality of partially losing his sight, a medical and spiritual odyssey that involved not only reassessing his own priorities, but also reaching out and gathering the wisdom from old friends and new acquaintances who had overcome their own traumas and afflictions. The result is a poignant, thorough, and ultimately uplifting examination of the limitations we all inevitably encounter, the lenses through which we choose to assess them, and the tools we have to persevere.
