Frank Bruni, longtime New York Times columnist, best-selling author and Duke University professor, headlines the 2022 edition Morristown Book Festival which starts on Friday, October 7.
The main all-day book festival, including popular KidFest events, takes place on Saturday, October 8.
Over 60 award-winning and best-selling authors will speak and answer questions at five locations, all within walking distance of each other along South Street in historic Morristown, including the Sanctuary and the Church Parish House St. Peter’s, the parish house of the Presbyterian Church, The Church of the Redeemer and the Morristown / Morristown Township Library. Book sales and signings will take place in a tent on the grounds of the historic Vail Mansion.
Bruni will be the book festival’s keynote speaker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown, in conversation with MSNBC news anchor Katy Tur.
Bruni’s most recent bestseller is “The Beauty of Dusk: On Vision Lost and Found,” a memoir about aging, grief, and optimism after partially losing sight.
Bruni has been a prominent journalist for more than three decades, including more than 25 years at the New York Times, the last ten of them as a nationally known opinion columnist who has appeared frequently as a television commentator. .
He was also White House correspondent for The Times, its Rome bureau chief and, for five years, its chief food critic.
He is the author of three New York Times bestsellers. In July 2021, he became a full professor at Duke University, teaching media-focused courses at the Sanford School of Public Policy. He continues to write his popular weekly newsletter for The Times and produce occasional essays as one of its opinion contributors.
Bruni graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in English and earned a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
