The comedy veteran will lead an evening of entertainment on Saturday May 14 at the Northbury Hotel, starting at 7:30 p.m.

For 23 years, Wilmot established himself as an unsung hero of the British comedy scene, receiving praise and rave reviews for his unique and humorous acts. His work won him a Barry Award in 2003 at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Now he has returned home to bring his personal flair to Canadian audiences.

His work includes television credits, such as “Live At The Apollo” (BBC1), “Rich Hall’s Fishing Show/Cattle Drive” (BBC4) and appearances on “Never Mind the Buzzcocks” (BBC2). He also hosted “Comedy Blue” on Paramount and team captain on “Shoot the Messenger.” His film credits include a stint on “It’s All Gone Pete Tong” as Paul Kaye’s manager.

Wilmot has appeared at comedy festivals in Ireland, Scandinavia, Paris, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and South Africa. He has appeared several times at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. In 2016 he made his debut at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the Teenager Cancer Trust.

Local comedians Shayne Dupont and Shawn McLaren are also set to appear. Advance tickets are available at www.derekyoungmarketing.com for $25 each, or $275 for a table of 10. A portion of proceeds will go to local homelessness initiatives. For more information, call 705-918-2601.
