Australian author Jacqueline Bublitz has been shortlisted for the Gold Dagger, awarded to the best crime novel originally written in English by an author of any nationality, in the UK Crime Writers’ Association’s Dagger Awards 2022 (CWA).
Bublitz, from Aotearoa in New Zealand, has been shortlisted for her debut Before I know my name (A&U), published by Little, Brown in the UK. The novel follows Ruby, who discovers Alice’s body in New York’s Riverside Park. Unbeknownst to Ruby, Alice watches as she embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery of her death.
The full shortlist for the Golden Dagger is:
- Before I know my name (Jacqueline Bublitz, A&U)
- swing at sunset (Ray Celestin, Coat)
- razor tears (H. A. Cosby, Big title)
- The reluctant (John Hart, Zaffré)
- The shadow of men (Abir Mukherjee, Harvill Secker)
- The trawler (William Shaw, riverrun).
